After several weeks of plotting and planning, this year our
Easter celebration started a week and a half before early. After living in
Florida and Alabama for almost 2 years, my little sister decided to move home
to Utah. Just picking a date and moving home wouldn’t be Jenn’s style. So, she
decided to caravan west with a roommate from California, and make a pit stop to
visit us in Las Vegas. Riley, Boston and I were already planning to head to
Brigham City for Easter, so we decided to keep Jenn’s visit a secret. Then
Boston and I would head to BC with her to surprise our family. She stayed for
about a week, making every text, face time and phone call with anyone in our
family sneaky and fun. It was great to
have Jenn visit! I got to shower and exercise by myself, plus Riley and I were able to sneak out for a date night. It was awesome!
Jenn, Boston and I hit the road early in the morning (Riley
had to stay and work, he is a good guy like that). Our first stop was in St.
George to practice our surprise on my Grandparents- it was great. I called my
grandma “just to chat” as we got off the exit and while I was on the phone with
her, Jenn took Boston and knocked on her front door. The result: pure shock,
followed by huge smiles and lots of hugs- success.

After lunch and some wiggle time for Boston, we were on the
road again. Jenn and I spent hours coming up with different ideas to surprise
our family. Then we totally lucked out. During a call to my dad (a.k.a. The Mesmerizer
when Boston is screaming and sick of the car seat. We told him we “had been out
and about, and were heading home” – all true), we learned my parents were at my
older sister’s house for dinner. It was perfect! If we could make it to her
house in time we could surprise everyone at the same time (except little
brother who was at work).
It was priceless! We walked in and everyone froze until
Bella came screaming, yelling, laughing and hugging all at the same time. After
that everyone was laughing and freaking out (it scared Boston a bit, which was
sad and funny all at the same time). My mom just kept saying over and over
again that she couldn’t believe it and was so happy and so surprised- again
success. Our only miss was with little brother whose phone died, meaning he
didn’t get our text and just came home from work to find us in the middle of
the night- still fun.

Our attempted text to Tyler was this picture
of us in his bed and a countdown to "no more sleeps." |
Boston and I got to spend the next few days hanging out with
my fam. We got in everything from experimenting with extra long punk rocker
hair, to lacrosse practice, a run to Logan for reject Milano cookies (sold by
the pound) and even a Twilight marathon (we did chicken out a bit on this one
and just watched the last two).

This silly hair experiment is the only one of those events that we thought to take a picture of. |
Riley got there on Saturday, just in time to color eggs and have
an early Easer dinner. Sunday we got up early so Bella could find all the eggs
and collect her treasures from the Easter Bunny. Boston had a great time
playing with/eating the plastic eggs and loved tasting the baby food carrots
the Easter Bunny left for him. After church and another great family dinner, we
were able to end the day with a nice walk and of course, some pictures with
Boston in his cute puppy hat.
Monday it was time to go home. Boston was a champ in the
car. Plus, we were able to stop in St. George to have dinner with Riley’s
parents for their birthdays, nice way to wrap up a great trip.
