Halloween in Full Force

You know those families who have perfect matching costumes each year and look totally awesome on Halloween- we are NOT one of them. I’m just not very good at thinking of, or executing that kind of plan. That being said, I think this year was a touchdown (pun intended), or at least as good as it is likely to get for us.  Boston and Riley were football players and because I couldn’t find them matching jerseys, I was the referee.  Instead of trying to have Boston toddle around the neighborhood to trick-or-treat, we headed to the Trunk-or-Treat our ward was hosting. It didn't take Boston long to figure out that all he had to do was hold his hand out and someone would put a candy in it. For a while he was happy to get the candy then drop it in his bag. Then he decided it was more fun to find people to hand his candy back to. Usually the candy had already been drooled on, so he didn’t find many takers. But it was still cute and nice of Boston to share, since we totally ran out of candy (in my defense, I thought I had bought oodles).

We then headed to Jamba Juice, where they were giving out free smoothies for kids who were dressed up. Silly me, I thought if Boston had his own smoothie, he would leave mine alone. I was very wrong. Even though I had to fight for my drink, this was definitely our favorite part of the night!

Fall Fun

Winter in Las Vegas is great. Spring is nice. Summer is hot, but doable. When Fall hits, I get homesick. I love the changing leaves and the nice fall chill that hits in Northern Utah.  Instead of being bummed out about it, we decided to try some Fall-type activities here in Vegas. In other words, we hit up a few Pumpkin Patches. The first attempt was on a Saturday, and the place was packed. Instead of fighting to get away, Boston wouldn’t let us put him down. The next try was during the week, and not busy at all. That time Boston took off and ran around like he owned the place. It was not quite the fall fun I grew up with, but it took the edge off. And I really do love the warm sunshine.

One Year Old Pictures

My awesome friend took Boston's pictures just after his first birthday. We went out to the little town of Blue Diamond and just walked around finding cute spots. I think they turned out pretty dang cute!

Boston’s 12 Month Stats

At 12 months old Boston weighs 21 pounds, 12 ounces and is 29 inches tall. He has 8 teeth: 4 on top, 4 on bottom, plus his first set of molars are starting to come in on the bottom.

He runs all over the place and loves to empty things out, then try and sit in them (things like the cupboards, toy basket- really any kind of basket).

He says: Mama, Daddy, Hi, Bye, Ball and Duck.

His favorite toys are his push car, a set of silicone Christmas tree cupcake molds, his bear, and any kind of ball.

His favorite books are The Silly Safari Bus, and Playtime Peek-a-Boo.

His favorite food is chocolate chip pancakes.

He uses everything as a phone.

He also loves dogs and thinks swings are awesome!

Boston’s Birthday Celebrations

I can’t believe my baby is a year old! The past year has flown by, and I’m still surprised by how much I love this kid. Plus, I think he gets more entertaining every day J. To mark his first birthday, we ended up having two parties. The first was in Enterprise with Riley’s family. We were visiting the weekend before Boston’s birthday for conference and decided it would be fun to celebrate with all of his little cousins. Riley’s mom found a bunch of birthday decorations and we made a baseball birthday cake. Boston was not too sure about the cake. It looked like a ball, so he kept trying to pick it up, but it was heavy and his hands would get covered in frosting. Eventually he realized the frosting was yummy and ate a bit of the cake, but he was still quite confused by the ball that he couldn’t pick up. It was pretty cute.

A few days latter, we headed up to see my family. To split the trip up, we stayed with Riley’s sister in Beaver. Boston was so excited to see them that he was spinning in circles, and chasing their poor dog all over the house. It was also Riley’s nieces birthday, so it was lots of fun to be able to share part of her day with her. Then it was on to Brigham City. For this party we had Madox for dinner (my favorite) and just ice cream for desert. The birthday cake turned into a Pinterest fail that literally ended up on the floor, but Boston still had fun getting frosting on his fingers.

Boston’s actual birthday was all about football. We were able to spend the morning watching my nephew’s peewee game (after an undefeated season, they lost in the semi-finals). Then we headed to Provo for a BYU game. Riley’s parents have season tickets, so we decided to get in on the fun. I even wore a BYU shirt, so if anyone ever asks- this is what true love looks like J.

Boston had lots of fun at the game. He thinks he is being chased anytime anyone is coming up the stairs behind him, so he thought the stadium was great (plus, all cheering anytime must be for him right? J).

It was a great day spent with great people, outside in the beautiful fall weather that I miss so much in Vegas this time of year. It was also lots of fun to basically spend two weeks celebrating Boston’s 1^st birthday.
