I think Boston gets more and more silly every day. Here are a few random pictures and videos from this month:

He is silly from the minute he wakes up. He usually doesn't cry after his nap, I know he is awake because I can hear him jumping on his bed :).

He loves these shoes and has been making me put them on for months.

A friend who lives in Rhodes Ranch took us to feed the ducks one afternoon (they just roam around by the golf course). Boston loved it!

Petting Zoo

Boston loves animals and gets really excited to see them. When we found out Zappos shoe store was having a free petting zoo (along with a big shoe sale), it sounded like a great way to spend our Saturday. As expected, Boston loved it! He was literally running in circles trying to catch the animals. When Riley got him to slow down enough to stop scaring them away, Boston loved petting the goats, bunnies, chickens and ducks.

Boston's First Haircut

With very, very few exceptions, hair is not something that grows with abundance on either my or Riley's side of the family. So, it really was no big surprise that it took Boston's quite awhile to get growing. I actually thought he would be at least two before we even needed to start thinking about his first haircut. But he surprised us all. A few weeks ago, the hairs around his ears started to turn into long curls, and a little tuft on top of his head became unmanageable. The combination maked him look like he would fit right in with Cindy Lou Who's family from The Grinch. Since we had waited more than a year and a half for the big day, we decided to make a big deal of his first haircut and found a really cute place to get it done. They had him sit in a noisy race car and had Mickey Mouse playing for him. Even with all of the fun distractions, Boston was super serious the entire time, and tried to look at the stylist whenever she came near him. He wasn't awful, but he definitely wasn't cooperative. Luckily his haircut turned out pretty cute.

Landscape Makeover

We have lived in our house for more than five years, but thanks to desert landscaping, pulling a few weeds here and there (usually after we get a love letter from our HOA letting us know the weeds are as tall as our plants), we haven't really done any yard work. Now that Boston wants to be outside all the time, we decided some serious yard work was necessary.
This sudden desire to fix our yard may have also been pushed by my realization that almond trees grow really well in Las Vegas (I love almonds).
We started by replacing a few dying/old/ugly plants, ripping out anything that came up easily, and going to great lengths to tame the oleander bush that was trying to take over our back yard. Then after a few weeks on a waiting list (apparently everyone else in Las Vegas wants an almond tree), we got to work replacing some of the plants we ripped up. Boston loved looking for plants, and pulling the wagons through Star Nursery.

To add some silliness, we had to get all of our new plants from Star to our house... in our little passenger car. It was ridiculous, and I laughed almost the whole way home.

I'm so excited for this little guy to grow up and give me almonds!

With all the junk plants and overgrowth gone, we realized most of our landscaping rocks had disappeared and what was left looked awful.  A few weeks later, we had five tons of rocks dumped in front of our house, and went to work fixing the rocks. Thanks to some awesome friends, we got the rocks moved and raked into place in just a few hours. Now we are excited to take a few years off from yard work ;-).

Stinky Feet

Boston I loves shoes. He will find shoes that are several sizes too big and wear them all over the house. But when it comes time to put on shoes that fit, he will only wear one pair. So, that same pair of shoes goes everywhere from the park and grocery store, to church. As Boston will tell you, the result is some seriously stinky little feet.

Baby Sister!!

I am not a patient person, and when it comes to pregnancy I'm even worse than usual. As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I wanted to start buying things and preparing for our baby. Stockpiling diapers isn't any fun, when you are already buying diapers for your toddler. So, I think I was extra anxious to find out the sex of our baby this time around (Riley says I was just as impatient with Boston :)). Maybe because I was extra anxious, the baby didn't cooperate. At our first gender check ultrasound she was waving her hands and moving around for all sorts of fun ultrasound pictures. However, she was extremely modest, then decided to snuggle her umbilical cord. After coughing, turning side to side, even a few jumping jacks- we ended up having to schedule another appointment. On the bright side, along with the cute pictures, Boston was super cute. He was jumping up and down in front of the screen, checking on me, and kept saying "hi baby".
We were able to schedule our second appointment for the next day, and modesty was no issue. Our little lady showed us what we needed to see, and we were in and out in about 5 minutes (which was great because Boston was not nearly as amused the second time around).
Bring on the nail polish, bows and sparkles, we are really excited for this little girl to join our family!
