It sometimes seems like a good portion of my day is spent
making silly sounds, faces or even sometimes doing a silly dance, just to get a
little laugh or smile out of Boston. Tonight, it just took three words (is
boogedy a word?): Boogedy, boogedy, boo.
Said any way, or with any kind of emphasis- Boston was cracking up.
After we finally remembered to try to get it on camera, we were watching the
video, and even the video was making Boston laugh- so cute. But, by the time we thought
to get a video of him watching the video, he was back to being mesmerized by
the camera. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Arms
This whole mom thing randomly turns me into a sap…
translation: I’m about to go off on a totally cheesy tangent.
Boston is already getting old enough that he doesn’t like to
snuggle as much as he used to. Because of that, him being sick has been a
little bittersweet. I feel so bad that he doesn’t feel good, but I also love
that he will let me hold and snuggle him for hours. I just keep thinking,
surely this is what arms are made for. Arms do lots of amazing things. I feel
it is pretty safe to say the modern day society we enjoy wouldn’t be able to
exist without them. But without babies, what is it all for? It reminds me of
one of my favorite ‘Mommy quotes:’ "The
homemaker has the ultimate career. All other careers exist for one purpose only
- and that is to support the ultimate career. " -C.S. Lewis. I
would believe the same principle applies to arms snuggling a baby. Arms are
good for many amazing things, but they only do those things to make it possible
to snuggle a baby.
Think about it- it is totally true J.

Happy Feet
One of the parenting experiences I have been dreading most
has hit: sick baby. Boston woke up Monday with a bit of a runny nose (bring on
the fight against the aspirator, and eventually anything that even touches his
nose) and a sleepy snuggly baby. By Tuesday he was sad. Wednesday brought on a
bit of a fever. Thursday the cough hit and Friday we decided it was time to
check in with the doctor. The diagnoses: ear infections- poor little guy.
Boston is now on his first round of antibiotics, a decongestant, plus baby
Tylenol for when he gets sad and seems really uncomfortable. We waited until
just before bedtime to give him his medicine, thinking it would knock him out
(a possible perk for parents of a sick baby?). Instead, he was totally wired
after taking it, moving his feet like crazy and cracking up. I think it may be
one of the funniest things I have caught on video… at least so far.
