Memorial Day Weekend

Since Riley has a job where he can usually get holidays off and I no longer have to spend holidays at the news factory, we decided to head to Enterprise for a long Memorial Day weekend. We had a nice relaxing weekend with Riley’s family, including his brothers little friend Sophie.
Trying to take Sophie for a ride
We got to visit with both sets of Riley’s grandparents and a few of his cousins and their kids that are Boston’s age (2nd cousins?).

We also had a chance to visit the graves of their loved ones that have passed away. It was a great opportunity to learn more about some of the people I never got the chance to meet, but who helped make my husband and in-laws the amazing people they are.

Date Night

We are still a bit nervous about babysitters, so tonight I got to go out for a date night with both of my boys. We went to dinner at Steak and Shake at the Southpoint (I totally recommend this place, the service isn’t awesome, but the burgers and shakes are J). Boston was really good and slept through most of dinner, but wasn’t very happy when we tried to make him wear the souvenir hat.  After dinner we headed up to the bowling alley. Boston was a big fan, which makes sense: mom and dad handing passing him back and forth every few minutes, and lots of fun things to look at. It was a great night, I’m so lucky to have such cute boys to take me out J.

Not so Family-Friendly Family Home Evening

Tonight we went with some good friends to see the gardens and fountains at the Bellagio. Boston wasn’t very impressed with the gardens, but he thought the fountains were mesmerizing.  After the show, we saw an Only-in-Vegas photo opportunity too good to pass up. Am I a bad mom for letting a showgirl (more likely stripper) hold my baby? Probably, but it was definitely worth a good laugh.

Boston's First Baseball Game

Instead of ice cream or pickles while I was pregnant with Boston, Riley and I went on late night runs to buy baseballs, basketballs and footballs. Now that Boston is old enough to sit up, Riley decided he is old enough for his first ball game. With the 51's being as close as it gets to a pro team of any kind in Las Vegas, we decided to head to the ball park. With Boston decked out with every thing from a baseball pacifier to baseball stitching on his shoes, we were ready to play ball. Our little guy had lots of fun watching all the kids and thought the lady sitting behind us was hilarious. But, by the 7th inning stretch he had had enough. Since it was about an hour past his bed time, we decided to call it a night and plan to try to catch another 51's and possibly a Dodger's game before baseball season is over.
